Adel Chefridi - Necklaces

Adel Chefridi

Adel Chefridi was born in the old city of Tunis, along the Mediterranean coast. He came to New York in 1998, where he founded his studio.  His work draws from his multicultural background, resulting in an attempt to reconcile past and present, nostalgia and hope.   His designs emphasize simplicity, wearability, durability, and openness to light and movement. 
 
Adel Chefridi creates his pieces using natural gem stones and solid precious metals.  His models are make out of wax or resin, either according to exact measurements or completely free form allowing spontaneous and at times chaotic shapes.    He uses stone setting techniques ranging from bead work to microsetting.
 
Chefridi studied Gemology at the Gemological Institute of America, where he graduated as Graduate Gemologist (GG) and Accredited Jewelry Professional (AJP). He then went on to intensive study of goldsmithing at Studio Jewelers and graduated as a Bench Jeweler. He also studied Computer Aided design (CAD) and took various other Jewelry making and wax modeling classes.
